Why did my ice start tasting stale?

How long should a new ice maker take to make ice?
After installation or a reset, expect several hours before the first harvest. A full bin usually takes about a day. If nothing drops after 24 hours with the freezer at temperature, something in the water or harvest path is stuck.
Can you fix a built-in undercounter ice machine?
Yes. Undercounter units use different condensers, pumps, and drain paths than refrigerator ice makers. Humid Atlanta air loads their air filters and condensers quickly, so cleaning is often part of the repair. Call us and describe the model.
Is it worth repairing or should I replace the fridge?
