Why did my ice start tasting stale?
Old ice picks up odors, and an aging filter lets flavors through. Empty the bin, wash it with mild soap, and put in a new filter. If the taste comes back within a week, look at the supply line or the fill valve.
How long should a new ice maker take to make ice?
After installation or a reset, give it several hours before the first harvest. Filling the bin usually takes about a day. If nothing has dropped after 24 hours and the freezer is at temperature, something in the water or harvest path is stuck.
Can you fix a built-in undercounter ice machine?
Yes. Undercounter units use different condensers, pumps, and drain paths than a refrigerator ice maker. Humid Atlanta air loads up their air filters and condensers fast, so cleaning is often part of the repair. Call us and describe the model.
Is it worth repairing or should I replace the fridge?
Depends on what failed. An inlet valve, a thermistor, or an ice maker module is a contained repair. A failing sealed system on an older unit is a different conversation. We tell you which one you are in before any work starts.
