Microwave Repair — Book a Visit Today
Microwaves fail in a few predictable ways. The magnetron stops producing heat, so the plate spins and the food stays cold. Door switches wear out and the unit refuses to start. Control boards get flaky after a power blip. Over-the-range models cook their own grease filters and fans, and Atlanta humidity does the rest. On a visit, we test the door interlocks, check the high-voltage side safely, read the fault behavior, and tell you plainly whether a part swap makes sense or the cabinet is done. Built-in and over-the-range units usually get pulled from the wall, so we plan for that. Metro drive times vary, so call us and we will schedule a realistic window.

The microwave symptoms we hear most
- It runs but the food stays cold Magnetron, high-voltage diode, or capacitor failure
- Nothing happens when I press start Door interlock switches, thermal fuse, or line fuse
- Loud buzzing every time it heats Failing magnetron or a dry turntable motor bearing
- Sparks and burn marks inside Scorched waveguide cover or damaged cavity paint
- Keypad only takes some buttons Worn membrane touchpad or control board fault
Safe things to check first
Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.
- 1Confirm the outlet has power by plugging in a lamp, since many over-the-range units share a tripped GFCI or breaker.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call us or fill out the form. Describe what the machine is doing: the noise, the smell, the error code. Brand and rough age help us load the right parts.
- Step 2
We schedule a window
Metro Atlanta traffic is real, so we book arrival windows that hold up. You get a heads-up before the technician rolls out, and we work around your day where routes allow.
- Step 3
Diagnose, then repair
The technician tests the unit, finds the failed part, and explains what's wrong in plain words. You approve the work before anything gets replaced. Most common parts ride on the van.

Guides & troubleshooting
Microwave Repair — quick answers
Is a microwave worth repairing?
Often yes, especially built-in and over-the-range units where replacement means new trim and cabinet work. Countertop models are more of a judgment call. We check the fault first, then tell you honestly whether the repair is sound or the cabinet is finished.
Why does the plate turn but nothing gets hot?
That means the controls and turntable motor work, but the high-voltage side is not producing microwaves. Usual suspects are the magnetron, diode, capacitor, or a blown high-voltage fuse. Those parts hold a dangerous charge, so testing belongs with a technician.
Can I keep using it if it sparks?
Stop using it. Sparking usually means the waveguide cover is scorched or food debris has burned onto the cavity wall. Left alone, it can damage the magnetron. Unplug the unit and call us so we can inspect the interior.
Do you work on over-the-range and built-in models?
Yes. Those need to come down or slide out for real access, which takes more time and sometimes a second set of hands. We handle the mounting plate, venting, and reinstall as part of the job.
How long does a repair usually take?
Many are a single visit when the part is common. Control boards and magnetrons for less common models may need ordering, which adds a few days. We tell you the likely timeline before we leave the first appointment.
Why does the exhaust fan smell greasy?
Grease filters load up and the blower wheel gets coated, especially in kitchens that fry often. Airflow drops and heat backs up into the cabinet. Filters are homeowner-serviceable; a seized fan motor or clogged duct is not.

Why homeowners call us
- Built for Southern humidityDamp air punishes appliances. Dryers take longer, gaskets grow mildew, ice makers sweat and freeze up. We see these patterns weekly and check for them instead of chasing the obvious part first.
- Pollen-season know-howSpring coats every condenser coil in yellow film. A fridge that struggles in April often just can't shed heat. We clean, test airflow, and tell you what actually failed versus what was choked.
